The multidisciplinary minor in American History, Government, Literature and Law (AGHLL) provides students with an understanding of the history, society, politics, culture and economics of the United States, its Pre-Columbian and colonial predecessors, and the flow of immigrants from other societies. This minor is ideal for students interested in engaging thoughtfully with the challenges of citizenship and leadership in American society.

The Hamilton School of for Classical and Civic Education is devoted to research and teaching on Western civilization and the principles of a free society. Curriculum

The AGHLL minor requires both Intellectual Foundations courses and Themes in American Civilization courses. Classics of American Thought I and Classics of American Thought II provide an intellectual foundation for the minor and Themes in American Civilization courses provide students with opportunities to explore the interplay of history, literature and law into the study of American government.
