 Curriculum

Open to students of any major.

The Counseling and Human Services minor aims to provide foundational knowledge on the roles of counselors and related helping professionals in schools and community settings; introduce the theoretical and practical knowledge base of professional counseling and behavioral health services; and help students learn and practice basic interpersonal and counseling skills that are relevant for many professional degrees. The electives allow students the opportunity to select coursework focused on specific topics in human behavior and mental health. In these courses students are asked to think critically and apply problem-solving strategies to address complex but common issues related to mental and behavioral health.

Core emphasis: pre‑professional training in human behavior and interpersonal communication, techniques used by helping professionals, and preparation for graduate study.
